I have been working as a Speech & Language Therapist for over 10 years. During this time I have worked in special schools, preschool clinics, client’s homes, nurseries and preschools. I have worked with children with a wide range of speech and language needs including;
- Preschool children with Speech & Language Delay
- General Developmental Delay
- Genetic conditions including Downs Syndrome
- Children with complex physical and learning difficulties
I also have experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary Child Development assessment team within the NHS.
I have extensive experience of using the Attention Autism approach, Colourful Semantics, Intensive Interaction and working with a wide range of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems.
I have also have additional formal trained in:
- SCERTS (Social Communication Emotional Regulation Transactional Support)
- Hanen (More Than Words)
- Makaton (signs and symbols)
- PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
- Lis’n’tell interactive storytelling
- Working with Parents in Partnership
I am passionate about working with children and young people to ensure they reach their communication potential. I know how vital it is to meet the individual needs of the child and their family and strongly believe in working in partnership with parents and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
I aim to provide fun and engaging interventions that build the confidence of the child and the skills of their parents and other professionals working with them.
