HEATHER SNAITH

I am a Speech and Language Therapist with a background in education, language teaching, theatre and community arts. I have worked with children and young people in these roles for 14 years.

I have experience as an SLT in working with a range of speech, language and communication needs including:

  • Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including pre, or minimally verbal children
  • Developmental Language Disorder (previously Specific Language Impairment)
  • Speech Sound difficulties
  • Learning needs
  • Social communication needs

I have also worked in both primary and secondary settings supporting children with profiles of Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and independently as an Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) tutor. Post qualification training includes Social Thinking™, Makaton sign and Shape Coding™. I also have a special interest in working with children with Hearing Impairment.

I strive to deliver therapy that is motivating and engaging for children, identifying and drawing upon their particular strengths. I aim to empower parents and education staff to feel confident in supporting the children’s communication and to enable children and young people to achieve their full potential. For me, children’s confidence and well-being are the keystone to long term success, as well as delivering therapy which is evidenced-based and child specific.
